What is the Call Center Diet?
To be focused, vigilant and attentive at work, it is
necessary that call center agents take care of their diet, and not take any
risks when it comes to stress. Less
regular mealtimes and high consumption of caffeinated drinks and fast food
characterize the diet of workers which have no discipline. In order to get the call center agents back
in better shape, the Contact Center Association of the Philippines (CCAP) wants
call center workers to become active in fitness and in diet as a form of
solution to several people, especially when they're looking to be fit and lose
weight in a short span of time.
Most often than not, the work schedule of a call center
company is not regular or normal. Usually, call centers set up its working
schedules based on their client's time zone.
It is rather very disturbing - a diet consisting of processed
foods. This puts agents in a bad light,
so it really is time to eat right. For
those who really have to work long hours at night, keeping the muscles strong
will help in keeping your posture good at your working desk, so make sure you
take in that healthy breakfast and lunch food too.
Most call center agents overspend on fast food, coffee, and
cigarettes in order to stay in their stressful jobs, especially those who feel
the effect of the graveyard shift. That
is why, it is important to follow a diet rich in vitamins, minerals and
carbohydrates. It simply is the best way
to manage stress in call centers.
Need I say more?
Think about the call center survey showing that agents are eating
less. According to a survey conducted by
Population Commission (Popcom), Philippine call center workers are not eating
enough healthy food.
Without a proper and healthy lifestyle, a call center agent
might suffer too much. I’ll let you in
on a secret as I used to be a BPO worker myself – apart from maintaining that
good diet, its best to relax in the sleeping quarters, provided by your
company. Please do your body a favor by
managing your stress, so try to find time for it. A fifteen minute power nap is awesome, and it
works a lot for me and to others who also try!
Then avoid sugary and fatty foods because they will just make you tired
later on (good for you if you are allowed or are able to sneak in to eat a
snack while at your desk, when the need arises).
We all know too well that fried chicken is the most popular
food choice among the BPO workers, add to that the matching drinking, all-night
partying, karaoke gimmicks or other.
Make it a point to do it in moderation or might as well shun it.
