Paul Salerni's grant winning musical drama
with a lyrics by Dana Gioia takes
put on an established music radio
station on the most recent night of its
operations. Its last program, 'Musical drama Lover', is facilitated by Antonio Caruso, who recalls his initial longs for
aesthetic acclaim as the 'second
Caruso' and is gone to by three
phantoms his dead mother, Maria
Callas, and a baffling lady. Commended for his 'brilliant
vocalism' (American Record Guide)
also his 'deliciously sweet voice,
with its ringing, consummately tuned high
notes' (Opera Now), the junior
tenor Eric Fennell sings the title
part. Previous Chairman of the National
Gift for the Arts, librettist
Dana Gioia is a globally
acclaimed and recompense winning writer.
This is extremely touching little musical show. The lyrics, which is by Dana Gioia, one of my most loved cutting edge artists, is vulnerable to various understandings despite the fact that its not under any condition vague. To me its about disappointment and reclamation. The score works turn in glove with the plot to deliver funniness, incongruity and poignancy. Its alluring tunes range from pop to established style. What's more the singing is everything you could request.
