About the Artist
Paul Austerlitz was conceived in Finland and experienced childhood in New York City, submerged in jazz, salsa, and established music, his deep rooted association with the bass clarinet started in school, where he played free jazz and created an interest for Asian, African, and Caribbean music. He played saxophone in New York City Latin groups after school, and afterward came back to the scholarly world and got the Ph.d. in ethnomusicology from Wesleyan University in 1993.
